The addition of this specialist know-how immediately provides Axians, the VINCI Energies ICT brand, with added value in the field of cloud, container and database platforms.
Veghel – VINCI Energies adds knowledge and expertise of open-source and database specialist Cygnis to its ICT portfolio as of 1 January 2022. The addition of this specialist know-how immediately provides Axians, the VINCI Energies ICT brand, with added value in the field of cloud, container and database platforms.
The acquisition of Cygnis, by VINCI Energies in the Netherlands, ensures that the Axians brand has a strong open-source portfolio based on the strong and rapidly growing partnership with Redhat, part of IBM.
Cygnis, based in Groningen, has already collaborated with Axians for the benefit of mutual clients. The combination of this specific expertise results in an open-source and database Centre of Excellence in Groningen, featuring forty experienced specialists. The Centre of Excellence provides expertise in projects and managed services on the basis of the ‘Axians vPack’, a cloud and container platform developed in-house for the monitoring and orchestration of applications based on open-source technology.
“This acquisition provides us with strong growth, with Linux, Oracle and PostgreSQL expertise, while consolidating expertise of Redhat OpenShift in our open-source Centre of Excellence. OpenShift is a container platform based on Kubernetes which ensures flexibility in the applications landscape en route to the cloud. OpenShift also available for Microsoft Azure, which is an important spearhead for us as part of the total supply of our managed services for hybrid cloud services together with our strategic partners!” says Tom Greeve, Director of Axians.
Adding open-source and database expertise leads to an even stronger range of cloud and managed services for Axians. A broader portfolio means that we can support our clients even more effectively in their digitalisation on the way to becoming a flexible digital organisation.
The Cygnis employees will continue their work under the Axians flag.
